During the past weeks, the Latin American Studies class has been learning about Knights. To end the lessons learned, there was a special ceremony held in which the gentlemen of the class were knighted by the amazing Mr. Allen who addressed the future knights with a speech in Spanish prior to the knighting. The class began with the four knights standing watch in all white. This watch would have traditionally been done by the knight prior to the ceremony. Then, the knights changed to their knightley attire and the ladies of the class put a cape on each of the knights. The knights then knelt before the amazing Mr. Allen, who took the title as King, and were given a speech and then knighted with a sword. The newly knighted gentlemen were each given gifts and a certificate. One of the gifts was a plastic duck in knightly armor. The certificate had each knight's name with a special message that represented their personality. After the ceremony the feast began with food brought in by all participants. Then, the class explained to the King, Mr. Allen, about what the class had been learning. What a fun and adventurous experience for all!
